8 rounds of ammunition recovered in joint forces operation in Chandpur

Desk Report:These bullets, wrapped in polythene, were recovered abandoned from the base of a raintree (Karai) tree next to the Kandirpargami connection road of the Kachua-Rahimanagar road in Kachua upazila on Sunday (November 24) evening.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kachua Police Station M Abdul Halim confirmed this information on Monday (November 25) afternoon.

Police said that on August 5, after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in the student-public movement, SI Mamunur Rashid of Kachua Police Station was beaten to death in a mob attack on the grounds of Kachua Bangabandhu Government College. After the murder, the attackers looted the 7.62 mm pistol he was carrying. Nearly four months later, the bullets from the looted pistol were recovered in a special operation by the joint forces.

The OC said that under the direction of Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Abdur Rakib, a team from Kachua Police Station, along with the army and the District Detective Branch (DB) participated in the operation. During this, 8 rounds of ammunition from the looted 7.62 mm pistol were recovered. After due legal process in this incident, the recovered ammunition has been seized at Kachua Police Station.
